What should I do if my security seal cannot be authenticated?
Last updated on February 06, 2025You may find that your Elsevier book cannot be authenticated via its unique holographic security seal.
If you need to authenticate your book, you can find a guide to doing this here.
How
If your Genuine Elsevier Product security seal cannot be authenticated, please follow the steps below:
- Check that the security seal contains all the features of a Genuine Elsevier Product security seal.
- If you used an app to scan the Data Matrix barcode, try to enter the code manually (some barcode reader apps cannot read Data Matrix barcodes. i-nigma is a suitable app that can read Data Matrix codes).
- If you entered the unique ID manually, please check that the format of the ID is as follows:
- Two uppercase letters followed by six numbers followed by three uppercase letters.
- For example: BB123456 XYZ
If you still cannot authenticate your ID, or if you are unsure about your purchase, please contact us using one of the options located below and please include:
- The ID
- ISBN
- Date of purchase
- Place of your purchase
